This sticker commemorates the famous expression of defiance displayed at the Battle of Gonzales during the Texas Revolution. The small colony of Gonzales possessed a small cannon that they had used to defend the colony from raiders. Mexican forces with orders to disarm the colony and repossess the cannon attacked the town in an event known as The Battle of Gonzales. The Mexican forces were rebuffed by the armed townsfolk. The battle started the Texas Revolution and the cannon, which was instrumental in the battle, became a famous symbol of Texan pride and defiance of government overreach. The Texans fashioned a flag, The Gonzales Flag, containing the phrase “Come and Take It” along with a black lone star and the cannon.
